  • 1 and 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water

  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Step 1: 

    Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans with butter and dust them with flour or cocoa powder. This will prevent the cake from sticking to the pan.

Step 2: 

    In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix well so that there are no lumps.

    In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
